Autotelic Foundation is proud to be the key partner of Vienna Digital Cultures for the second year running.
Under the theme ‘Alone or Together?’, VDC 2026 is a free 4-day festival exploring how digital technologies are reshaping our notions of closeness, distance, and identity today. Across exhibition spaces, public locations, and digital platforms, VDC 2026 will present installations, performances, talks, screenings, and club nights to examine this phenomenon.
The 2026 edition of VDC opens on 21 May 2026 at FOTO ARSENAL WIEN, unfolding with an extensive programme during the opening weekend from 22 to 24 May. The accompanying exhibition, ‘The DOKU Trilogy’ (2018–2025) by Lu Yang, will be on view at FOTO ARSENAL WIEN from 22 May to 6 September 2026. Fabian Knecht's installation 'Lachen ist verdächtig (“Laughter is suspicious”)' (2022–) also opens in parallel.

Vienna Digital Cultures is an art, performance and discourse platform that explores the cultural impact of digital technologies. At its core is an annual festival that brings together international artists, experts and communities to reflect on the present moment shaped by digital transformation. This is complemented by an annual exhibition and an ongoing web presence, which provides a space for artistic, curatorial and academic contributions.
